Anatí (pronounced: ah nah TEE) is a singer/songwriter who, after years of searching, found her voice and a knack for turning anything and everything into music.
Originally from Orange County, CA, Anatí grew up appreciating music and started taking classical piano and voice lessons at the age of 12. She participated in choir, music, and theater productions of all sorts in high school but usually only as a chorus member and dancer. It wasn’t until college that she found her talent for songwriting hidden somewhere amongst her classical studies in piano and voice. Anatí knew that classical music would never be a career, but she used her classical training to learn guitar and find her own musical style. Playing a few gigs in her college city of Spokane, WA gave her an appetite for a music scene with more buzz and opportunities.
In 2009 after playing piano for a friend’s wedding, she came home feeling an incredible urge to write something…anything! This spark triggered an onset of fresh ideas and inspiration that paved the way back into playing music and songwriting. Listening to female artists like Sarah McLachlan, Tristan Prettyman, Missy Higgins, and Norah Jones empowered her to work through the brick wall. Suddenly everything that had built up over the 5 years of writer’s block finally had a reason and a voice. Everything became a story that had to be told, and writing became easier than ever.
She sees each day as a gift and hopes to never take for granted all the wonderful things that make it so. Over the years, Anatí has finally fulfilled one of her dreams in life: to find her place in the world of music by whole-heartedly calling herself a songwriter and backing it up with songs that took years to find their voice.
